JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unemployment is on the rise nationwide including in Nangarhar province where people complain about economic problems.
After the Taliban took over Kabul, nearly all government institutes and services closed that confronted people with many difficulties.
Many labourers in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, who wait on roads and squares for hirers say that they have little chance to find a work in ecent days.
One of them, Awal Khan, a resident of Behsud district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he could not find work in the last several days.
“We wait in intersections but no one hires us, there is no job, labourers come in the morning and go home at night, the last 20 days were very bad,” he said.
He asked the Taliban to announce its cabinet and assure people about jobs and their future.
Another daily wager, Shafiqullah said that he was in the military, but it was dissolved and he now needed an income source to help his family.
He also complained about joblessness and asked the Taliban to pay attention to the matter.
A number of other people held similar complaints and said that they would be unable to win bread for their families if the situation did not improve.
AhmadullahWasiq, Taliban’s deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok that they would soon announce their cabinet and reopen government institutes.
Some government departments are already open and others would also open in the near future, he said.
Wasiq said that all markets were open in cities and the situation will return to normal in the next few days.
