KABUL (Pajhwok): The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) president has arrived in Afghanistan on a three-day visit.
Peter Maurer, besides meeting ICRC staffers, will visit medical facilities, rehabilitation centers for victims of violence.
A statement from the humanitarian organisation on Sunday said Maurer also planned to meet Afghan authorities.
The Swiss diplomat said: “Afghans have suffered from 40 years of conflict and they now face years of work to heal and recover.”
Maurer added the International Committee of the Red Cross was dedicated to staying in Afghanistan to help that recovery.
