KABUL (Pajhwok): Now that the United States has no military presence in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda could stage a comeback, President Joe Biden says
A ramp-up in militancy from Al Qaeda, blamed for the Sept. 11 attacks, was likely, he admitted.
On the 20th anniversary of the devastating attacks, he told journalists in Pennsylvania on Saturday: “Could al Qaeda come back? Yeah.”
While defending the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the president had said on Aug. 20 that Al-Qaeda no longer has a presence in the war-ravaged country.
The Washington Examiner quoted him as saying: “It’s hard to explain to anybody how else could you get out…”
