MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Some female students of seminary in northwestern Faryab province on Tuesday rallied in support of the Taliban government and said they wanted an Islamic system and demanded the protection of their rights in compliance to Quran and Sunnah.
They said women who staged rallies in parts of the country in support of democracy, women rights and human rights never represented the women of Afghanistan.
One of the rally participant said: “In the past republican system, brothels, dancers, corruption, bribery were rampant, secret churches invited Christians, alcohol and drugs were sold publicly, the number of addicts reached millions, and lawyers and ministers were accused of adultery. Four-year-olds were raped, hundreds of women were sexually abused in prisons, billions of dollars of the nation’s capital were squandered, the country’s infrastructure and mines were looted.”
Fatema, another participant of the rally, said they were tired from democracy and western system, Islam defined the place and rights of women and we want our rights as defined by Islam.
Shukria, a seminary student, said she was against co-education and work. She said people were tired from the previous puppet government, Islam never allow a woman to be with a strange man in office or class.
