KABUL (Pajhwok): Seven power transformers have been installed and activated in Khak-i-Jabbar district of capital Kabul, electrifying 1,200 households, officials said Wednesday.
The power stations were activated in Malakhel, Khur Kabul, Chakri and Malang areas of the district.
A statement from Da Afghanistan BreshnaShirkat (DABS) or power utility said that seven power transformers with the capacity of 1,480kva electricity were put to use in Khak-i-Jabbar district on Tuesday.
Eng. SafiullahAhmadzai, acting executive director of DABS was quoted in the statement as saying that seven other transformers were also about to complete in the area and they would be also inaugurated soon.
He said that a survey for building 25 more stations in the district had been completed and practical work on it will start once budget prepared.
The current power transformers have the capacity of 1,480kva and they would supply electricity to 1,200 families, he said, adding that activation of the transformers cost 16.8 million Afghanis which was paid by DABS.
