SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Local officials on Sunday said 200 people including school watchmen, teachers and other low level government servants in northern Sar-i-Pul province received 50 kilograms of wheat each.
Omar Sarpuli, head of information and culture department of Sar-i-Pul province, said that the assistance was distributed by the education department of the province in cooperation with the governor’s house.
He said that those assisted also included teachers and most of them were in urgent need of help.
People who received the aid expressed their happiness over the aid.
One of the teachers, Sakhi Ahmad from Sar-i-Pul city, the provincial capital, who received the aid, said that he was faced with bad economic problems.
“I did not receive my salary, a bag of flour would meet my children needs for a few days,” he said.
Nabi, a caretaker in a school in Sar-i-Pul city, also expressed happiness and said that they faced with serious economic problems and the wheat would help him for some time.
This comes as government officials have not received their salaries since the services of banks are limited. Many of these people are reportedly in serious economic situation.
