KABUL (Pajhwok): Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud has landed in New Delhi for talks on issues of common interest, including the situation in Afghanistan, with Indian leaders.
Al Saud, who is set to meet his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar today (Sunday) will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted: “Prince Faisal arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening.”
Meanwhile, NDTV reported the situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban seized power in mid-August, was likely to dominate talks between the two sides.
Earlier in the week, the Saudi dignitary hoped peace and stability would return to Afghanistan after the creation of the new government.
In December last year, India’s Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane visited Saudi Arabia and held wide-ranging talks with senior Saudi military officials.
