Khostis: US, world should restore diplomatic ties with Afghanistan

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A number of tribal elders in southeastern Khost province on Monday asked the international community, particularly the US, to restore their diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.

The tribal elders in a meeting in support of the new administration, called on the US to unfreeze Afghanistan assets.

A tribal elder, ToryalaiMangal, talking to the meeting, said that the world should think about helping Afghans so they could stand on their feet and not face a misfortune.

Spreading hate is neither in the interest of Afghans nor the world, so the international community should make good relations with Afghanistan, he added.

“The deeds of Islamic Emirate show that they have respect for all countries and they want diplomatic relations with the world. We want the world to welcome the request of the movement for good relations with Afghanistan,” he said.

Another tribal elder, MukhtaruddinJalalzoi, also asked the US to unfreeze the assets of Afghanistan as it was the right of Afghans.

He also voiced on the UN to stay in contact with the new government as it stayed with the previous administration.

“We want the frozen money of Afghanistan should be unfrozen because it is the assets of Afghans, we also want the world to restore their diplomatic and political relations with the new government…,” he said.

Jan Mohammad, another tribal, asked the Taliban to be attentive to foreign plots and not let any foreign country interfere in internal issues of Afghanistan.

Khost governor, Mulavi Mohammad NabiOmari, talking to the meeting, said that the world wanted good relations with Afghanistan and they should avoid interference in religious and internal affairs of the country.

He said that the Taliban were ready to keep good ties with the whole world.

He said that if anyone tried to interfere in internal affairs of Afghanistan, then they should not expect good from the Taliban as well and they would definitely react.

A number of other participants of the meeting supported the new administration and assured that they would help the Taliban in preventing illegal activities.
