KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday announced the appointments of 22 high-ranking officials, including deputy ministers and governors.
Three individuals have been appointed as deputy ministers, 10 as directors, two as governors, one as deputy governor and six others as police chiefs.
A brief statement from the ministry said the appointments had been made to improve the security situation and address public problems.
Maulvi Noor Jalal has been named as deputy minister of training and personnel, Abdullah Khan, as deputy minister of counter-narcotics and Maulvi Shamsuddin Mansoor as deputy minister of policy and strategy.
Maulvi Zainullah has been appointed as chief of staff, Wazir Haqqani as director of planning and operations and Noorullah Hafiz as chief of fire brigade.
Major. Gen. Syed Noorullah Murad has been made traffic police chief, Sher Mohammad Sharif border police head, Maulvi Alam Gul Ghani passport department head and Maulvi Musa internal security chief.
Similarly, Maulvi Arifullah has been named as director of external relations, Maulvi Abdul Hakim Hamid as director of public relations and Eng. Ibraim as director of communications and technology.
Qari Obaida has been announced as director of the security unit and Maulvi Haseebullah as head of education and training.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Information Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that Muzammil had been appointed as governor of Nangarhar province and Sheikh Nada Mohammad as provincial police chief.
He wrote Nasrat had been appointed as head of the Nangarhar unit, Maulvi Mohammad Qasim, as governor of Kunar, Haji Yasir as police chief for Herat, Maulvi Mohammad Anwar as deputy governor for Khost and Maulvi Mahboob Shah Khost police chief for the same province.
