PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistani military has expressed its satisfaction with security and peace assurances held out by the new Afghan government.
Military spokesman Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar said Pakistan was in regular contact with the Taliban to safeguard the country’s security interests.
In an interview on Monday, the ISPR chief said Pakistan was satisfied with the assurances extended by the Taliban regarding peace and security.
“The Taliban have reiterated on several occasions that no terrorist organisation will be allowed to use Afghan territory for terrorist activity against any country,” he said.
Iftikhar added Islamabad had no reason to doubt the Taliban’s intentions, and that was why Pakistan was in constant touch with them.
