TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Unidentified individuals have kidnapped the son of a trader in Dehrawud district of central Uruzgan province.
The trader, Obaidullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that his son was kidnapped two days ago.
“After my son was kidnapped, a person contacted me on my phone and demanded money so he will help me in finding my son,” he said.
He did not provide details about the amount of money sought, but said that he had no personal enmity with anyone and his son’s fate was unknown.
The trader asked the Taliban to assist him in finding his on.
A local resident, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok that the son of another trader in the district was recently kidnapped. He said that the child was later released against nearly a million afghanis.
Mualvi Kamran, deputy Uruzgan police chief, confirmed to Pajhwok the kidnapping of the son of a shopkeeper in Dehrawud district.
He said that he had ordered his personnel to search for the person and rescue him from the kidnappers.
Kamran said that one suspect had so far been arrested in connection with the incident and a manhunt was currently underway in the area.
Kidnapping cases once again increased in some parts of the country. A day earlier, the child of a doctor was kidnapped in Balkh province.
