KABUL (Pajhwok): The new chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) says they want to host Pakistan for a one-day series.
Azizullah Fazli told AFP on Wednesday he would travel to the neighbouring country later this week to invite Pakistan to play a one-day series in his country.
Fazli will meet his Pakistan counterpart Ramiz Raja and offer to host that country for the series that was to be played in Sri Lanka this month.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan was scrapped due to over logistical problems and a Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.
Following Taliban’s takeover in mid-August, there have been calls for a boycott of Afghanistan’s team.
Fazli said “I am visiting Pakistan from September 25 and then will go to India, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates to meet officials of cricket boards.”
“We are seeking to improve Afghanistan cricket so that will come with cooperation from other countries,” he added.
If Afghanistan’s women team is not allowed to play the sport, Australia has warned of cancelling a Test match with the country in Brisbane in November.
