KABUL (Pajhwok): China called on Thursday for an immediate end to unilateral sanctions or restrictions on Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi demanded the lifting of economic sanctions on Afghanistan in a statement from the foreign ministry in Beijing.

Wang made the demand at a virtual G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on Afghanistan, Reuters reported, citing the foreign ministry statement.

The Afghan national assets should not be used as a bargaining chip to exert pressure on Afghanistan, the minister added.
