Man rescued, kidnapper killed in Ghazni clash

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A person was rescued from his kidnappers during a clash that left one abductor killed and two others wounded with security forces in southern Ghazni province, officials said Monday.

Haji Ramazan, the person rescued, said that he was kidnapped around 10 days ago in Ganj area of Ghazni city, the provincial capital.

He said that he was transferred to Rubat area of Deh Yak district of Ghazni province and the kidnappers had sought $600,000 in ransom.

However, he said that he was rescued by security forces on Sunday.

Ghazni intelligence chief, MulaviAbdali said that security forces had been trying to rescue Ramazan since last several days.

He said that security personnel and kidnappers engaged in a clash in Khudaidad area of Ghazni city on Sunday.

He said that one kidnapper was killed and two others arrested during the clash. Ramazan was also rescued during the clash, he added.

The arrested people would be punished based on the law, Abdali said.

Kidnapping cases have recently increased in some parts of the country, but most of kidnapped people were rescued by security forces.
