Daesh has no presence in Baghlan: Governor

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Some individuals who wanted to hoist Daesh --- Islamic State of Khorasan (IS-K) --- flag on a mosque in Pul-e-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province, has been arrested, an official said on Tuesday.

Governor Mullah Nisar Ahmad Nasrat said Daesh was not physically present in Baghlan but there are some rumours in recent days that this group was planning to begin activities in the province.

He said security personnel few days back arrested some youth who wanted to hoist Daesh flag on a mosque in the 20th Ferqai locality.

Detained individuals said they have no links with Daesh and they just wanted to mock people by hoisting Daesh flag.

According to Mullah Nisar Afghans were not aligned with Daesh ideologically and added the Taliban never allowed Daesh to be active in Afghanistan.
