KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said that the United Nations and World Health Organization (WHO) have promised to seek support for the Afghanistan’s health sector on international level.
A statement from MoPH received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that acting health minister, Dr. QalandarEbad, met with RamizAlakbarov, UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Dr.LuoDapeng WHO representative for Afghanistan.
Ebad said that he asked the UN and WHO to provide required assistance to the MoPH so it would provide transparent health services to people in need,and fund healthcare centers in the country.
Both sides talked about resolving problems facing the health sector and joint cooperation with MoPH and priorities of the ministry, the statement said.
The source said that UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and WHO representative for Afghanistan stressed on joint cooperation with Afghanistan and promised to seek international support for the needs of Afghan health sector.
They hoped that they would receive positive response from the world for financial assistance to Afghan healthcare centers.
