Daesh hideout destroyed in Kabul’s 17th police district

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy information and culture minister, Zabihullah Mujahid on Monday said a hideout of Daesh or Islamic State (IS) militants was destroyed during a fight with special forces in Khair Khana area of 17th police district of capital Kabul.

Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy information and culture minister, tweeted, “The mentioned hideout was totally eliminated during the operation which was very successful, all Daesh members were killed there.”

He did not provide information about the number of people killed in the operation.

Daesh did not yet comment on the incident so far.

A local resident, Khurd Agha, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Sar Kariz locality of Khair Khana area.

The clash started around 8am and continued until late night, he said, adding that the house belonged to a former Jihadi commander but he was not living there.

He did not name the commander but said that some people believed armed men in the house related to the commander and some others believed that they were Daesh members.
