KABUL (Pajhwok): British Special Representative for Afghanistan Simon Gass and his accompanying delegation has called on Deputy Prime Ministers Mullah Beradar and Abdul Salaam Hanif and discussed matters related to security and Afghanistan frozen fund, a statement from the Administrative Office said on Tuesday.
Beradar assured visiting dignitary that the Taliban wished to maintain cordial ties with international community including the United Kingdom and wanted the global community to free Afghanistan’s frozen assets.
He said freezing of Afghanistan’s fund would lead to poverty which would have far-reaching impact.
The Taliban deputy prime ministers said efforts were on to eradicate poverty with the cooperation of international community and called on international assisting organizations to provide support to Afghanistan in health, education and development areas.
Gass Said that British wanted to maintain positive relations with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and believed that poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan was in the interest of no side.
The visiting delegation also stressed over British humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and said this assistance would be channeled through UN and other relevant organizations.
