Govt sets body to remove undesirable figures from military

KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has created a commission to identify and remove unwanted people from military ranks, an official said Wednesday.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, QariSaeedKhosti told reporters in Kabul that a commission had been created to remove unwanted people from the military.

He said that members of the commission comprised of officials from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior and intelligence agency.

The commission will have a central office in Kabul under the framework of the Ministry of Defense and will also have branches in provinces, he added.

Khosti added that the commission was tasked with identifying, arresting and dismissing corrupt individuals in military ranks

"If anyone in the ranks violates or does not abide by the rules and abuses his authority despite warnings, the commission can arrest such people," he said.

He said that if a military man take bribes, tries to get financial support, or threatens someone or raids people’s houses or tortures people, the commission will remove them from their jobs.

He said that if anyone in the military ranks found that he had links with ISIS or Daesh, he would be taken to justice of Islam to prevent instability on earth.

A day earlier, the Council of Ministers has ordered the expulsion of unwanted figures from the military ranks.
