KABUL (Pajhwok): Former Prime Minister of Afghanistan and renowned jihadi leader Eng. Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai has died at the age of 78, a relative said on Sunday.
Mohammad Asif Ahmadzai, Ahmad Shah’s nephew and spokesman for the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, told Pajhwok Afghan News the former premier breathed his last this morning.
Born in 1953 in the Khak-i-Jabbar district of Kabul province, Ahmad Shah died at a hospital in India, where he had been admitted.
He graduated from the engineering faculty of the Kabul University and received his master’s degree in water management from the Colorado University.
He served in different positions during the mujahidin government. He was appointed as prime minister of transitional mujahidin government in 1987.
In the second mujahidin government, Ahmadzai served as information technology minister.
