PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says his country desires peace in the region, particularly in Afghanistan.
Addressing a public meeting in Multan his hometown, on Saturday, the foreign minister said: “Pakistan wants a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.?
Establishing durable peace was essential for the development and prosperity of the region, home to one-fourth of the world’s population, Qureshi said.
“We don’t want the economic situation in Afghanistan to deteriorate. Some forces want to exploit the Afghan situation,” he added.
Qureshi said Pakistan had told the international community about the anti-peace forces and would continue its efforts for peace in the region.
