KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran said on Monday it would host a meeting of foreign ministers from the countries neighboring Afghanistan this week.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh made the announcement at a weekly news conference in Tehran.
To a query about the Kandahar mosque bombing, Khatibzadeh said Iran was taking steps to avert further killings of Shiite Afghans.
Tehran had relations with all Afghan factions, he was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency. The Taliban were responsible for the security of the Afghans, including Shiites and Hazaras.
Wednesday’s meeting will confer on forming an inclusive government and helping establish peace and security in Afghanistan.
The spokesman confirmed Iran would take part in Moscow format consultations on Afghanistan scheduled for October 20.
