KABUL (Pajhwok): A team has been appointed to find ways for reducing the prices of phone calls in the country, the Ministry of Information and Culture said Monday.

Bilal Karimi, secretary of media office of the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC), said that a delegation was recently appointed to evaluate prices of phone calls and find ways for reducing their prices.

He did not provide more details about the delegation, but said that the aim of the move was to provide better and cost effective services to the public.

About the collection of 10 percent tax from telecom services, he said that the tax was collected regularly to the account of the current administration.

A number of Kabul residents praised the move and asked the delegation to cut the prices of phone calls with any possible way.

Naveed, a resident of Kabul city said that telecom companies provided a great facility for the Afghan people, but their prices for phone calls were too high.
