Pakistan announces aid, steps to facilitate bilateral trade

KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan has announced humanitarian aid worth rupees 5 billion to Afghanistan and other steps to facilitated trade between the two countries, Pakistan’s Special Representative to Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq said on Friday.

On his twitter handler, Sadiq wrote: “Accompanied FM Qureshi to Kabul today. Met Interim Prime Minister along with several Ministers/officials and announced: – Rs.5 billion in humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan in addition to the aid regularly flows from Pakistan for over a month now.”

He added: “The Torkham crossing will be open for 12 hours for pedestrians, Afghan trucks will be allowed to travel right up to Karachi, Ghulam Khan and Kharlachi crossings will be made more efficient.”

“Fruits and vegetables coming to Pakistan from Afghanistan will not be subject to duty, Pakistan Embassy in Kabul will issue multi-entry visas for businessmen up to 5 years.”
