Defence minister pledges to protect country’s borders  

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has pledged to form a strong military to protect the territorial integrity of Afghanistan particularly the border areas.

Acting Defence Minister Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoub in an audio message said all employees of the MoD strive to ensure the continuation of the ministry affairs.

“We have decided to create an independent military that could protect the country with high moral. We are trying to equip the Islamic Emirate military with advance weapons and enhance their ground and air force abilities,” he said.

Mawlavi Yaqoub assured regional countries that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against any other country.

“We assure all Afghans that your army would ensure the protection of Afghanistan national interest. The MoD will pay special attention to the protection of the country’s borders, no one has the right to invade Afghanistan’s soil and we will not allow anyone to do so. We will defend every inch of our country the way we did in the past 20 years,” he said.
