Printing, design of ID cards being improved

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Cabinet on Sunday tasked the Statistics Department with improving printing and design of national identity cards.

A cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Maulvi Hassan Akhund was held on Sunday, during which some decisions were taken.

According to documents obtained by Pajhwok, the Cabinet has instructed the Statistics Department to work with the Ministry of Justice to improve the printing, sign and design of ID cards.

The statistics department has also been instructed to close the ID card distribution department abroad for now and charge 300 afghanis for one ID card at home.

The Statistics Department has also been instructed to prepare a plan for a nationwide census within a month and submit it to the cabinet.

Bilal Karimi, the government's deputy spokesman, confirmed the cabinet decisions.
