KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian said on Monday it would not become part of any mechanism on Afghanistan involving the United States and extra-regional countries.
A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in an interview his country was included in different international mechanisms focused on Afghanistan.
Mehr News Agency quoted Saeed Khatibzadeh said: “What Iran has always emphasized is that we participate in, support and welcome any regional mechanism without the intervention of trans-regional countries.”
He went on to explain Iran was willing to participate in mechanisms within the framework of the United Nations, something necessary for the betterment of the living conditions of the Afghan people.
