KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The authorities in southeastern Khost province on Tuesday banned forest cutting for timber with effect from Saturday.
The decision comes after a number of people on social media criticized the government for not taking clear action to stop deforestation.
Maulvi Akhtar Mohammad Ikrama, spokesman for the governor's office in Khost, told Pajhwok Afghan News that only dry wood had been allowed to be extracted from the province's forests on the condition it will not be taken to another province.
After the deadline, he said, no one would be allowed to cut down dry or low . . .
