KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan are expected to play fearless cricket in their T20 World Cup match against New Zealand, believes former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson
In an interview published in Gulf News, Watson said the Afghans, without changing their style, would play courageous cricket against the Kiwis.
Having trounced Scotland and Namibia, India was rated as favourites storming into to the next stage, he said. Now their hopes are pinned on the outcome of the Afghanistan-New Zealand encounter.
Afghanistan are set to take on the Kiwis tomorrow (Sunday) in the Super-12 encounter, whose result might decide India’s fate.
Spin wizard Mujeebur Rahman would recover, the all-rounder hoped, saying the Abdu Dhabi wicket would suit the Kiwi quickies.
“If Afghanistan win, India have a chance to make it to the semifinals. If they lose, India will be out along with Afghanistan and it will be the Kiwis going into the last four.”
