PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has been invited to attend a Troika Plus meeting in Islamabad on November 11.
“Special representatives for Afghanistan from the United States, China, Russia and Pakistan will be meeting on Thursday and we hope Muttaqi will also be able to attend,” an unnamed official was quoted as saying.
Muttaqi might extend his visit to Islamabad by a day at the conclusion of the Troika Plus meeting for bilateral consultations with Pakistani officials, The News International reported on Tuesday.
However, the newspaper explained, there had been no confirmation from the Afghan government so far of Muttaqi’s trip to Islamabad.
The Troika Plus meeting on Afghanistan will be attended by Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, Thomas West of the US, Zamir Kabulov of Russia and Yue Xiaoyong of China.
The previous meeting took place in Moscow on October 19 before consultations on Afghanistan in the Moscow format.
