KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan government has announced the establishment of a military court and has appointed Maulvi Obaidullah Nizami as head of the court.
InamullahSamangani, deputy spokesman for the Afghan government, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the court had been set up in compliance with order of Amirul Momeenin Maulvi HaibatullahAkhundzada to enforce the shariah law.
He said that Maulvi Obaidullah Nizami has been appointed as the head of the military court and Maulvi Sayed Agha and Maulvi Zahed Akhundzada as judges.
Samangani added the military court has the power to hear and investigate complaints lawsuits, petitions against officials and members of the three security organs (Ministries of Defence, Interior and intelligence department) and to issue Sharia rulings.
He said the court’s decisions would be implemented after approval by the three courts and the supreme leader.
