PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasised the importance of inclusivity, respect for human rights and resolute counter-terrorism actions by the new Afghan government.
At a meeting with senior diplomats from China, Russia and the United States in Islamabad on Friday, he hoped the world would take urgent steps to help alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people.
The diplomats are presently in Pakistan in connection with the Troika Plus mechanism on the prevailing situation in Afghanistan.
A statement from his office said the premier congratulated the envoys on their successful meeting on the situation in Afghanistan and the way forward to overcome impending challenges.
He underlined the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan for the security and prosperity of the entire region.
Khan said he had consistently been stressing that there was no military solution in Afghanistan. “As such, Pakistan has all along supported an inclusive political settlement.”
He once again urged the international community to adopt a pragmatic approach and have constructive engagement with Afghanistan to address mutual concerns and promote common interests of Troika Plus countries.
He laid strong emphasis on the provision of urgent humanitarian aid and economic support to Afghanistan to avert a humanitarian crisis and economic collapse.
