Kabul confirms mediating Islamabad-TTP talks

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Kabul has formally confirmed mediating peace parleys between Islamabad and the Pakistani Taliban.

Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said as a matter of policy the entire Islamic Emirate was mediating between the Pakistan government and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

In an interview with Geo TV, Muttaqi hoped the negotiations would yield positive results. An end to war was in the interest of all, he commented.

While hailing the Islamabad-TTP talks, the visiting foreign promised the Islamic Emirate would continue to back Pakistan’s peace efforts.

Speaking earlier at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, he claimed all anti-Pakistan elements had left Afghanistan.

The Pakistan-TTP peace process would continue, he believed, pledging: “We will do everything we can to ensure that the territory of Afghanistan is not used against anyone.”
