KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced collecting a large number of drug addicts from Kabul and transferring them to Pul-i-Charkhi prison to get education and treatment.

Maulvi Mohammad Mohsen Hashemi, Deputy Minister of Interior, said that Kabul’s Pul-i-Charkhi prison has been turned into a training and correctional facility for addicts.

“A large number of addicts have been collected and transferred to this center, and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, they are both undergoing treatment and Islamic education,” he added.

He added the process of collecting addicts was underway.

According to MoPH, there are currently about three million drug addicts in the country.
