KABUL (Pajhwok): China has urged the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to resume cooperation with Afghanistan.
China’s Permanent Representative to UN Zhang Jun said: “We urge the IMF and the World Bank to consider the possible resumption of funding to Afghanistan.”
Addressing the UN Security Council on Wednesday, the diplomat called for helping the country return to economic cooperation with regional states and find a way to sustainable development.
Russia’s TASS news agency quoted him as noting the growing threat of hunger amid the upcoming winter and stressing the need for urgent measures to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
