JALALABAD (Pajhwok): New district administrative and police chiefs have been appointed for 22 districts of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Thursday.

New mayor of Jalalabad city, director of passport, highway commanders and mayor of Shinwari district were also introduced to the people by Nangarhar governor.

A statement from Nangarhar governor's house received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that new officials were introduced in a meeting in the governor’s house today.

The statement quoted Nangarhar Governor Maulvi Mohammad DaudMuzamil as saying that transfer and appointment was the principle of governance and under the new administration, rights should be given instead of being demanded.

He directed the newly appointed officials to do their jobs responsibly.

He also directed officials concerned about people’s illegal beating and punishing without a court as well as night raids and asked security forces not to harass people during search and checkups.

He added that if any official oppressed others, he will be treated according to Sharia.

Nangarhar Police Chief MaulviNeda Mohammad Nadeem urged officials to cooperate with each other, coordinate, develop relations, make good use of equipment and always follow rules and law.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the newly appointed officials of the city and districts were introduced to the people.
