MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A psychiatrist, Dr. Nadir Alami, has been killed in captivity by his kidnappers in northern Balkh province, officials said on Friday.
Dr. Almi had been abducted two months ago from his home in the Nawababad area of Mazar-e-Sharif.
Dr. Ghausuddin Anwari, chief physician at Balkh Regional Hospital, also confirmed that Nadir Alami was killed by his captors and his body was recovered by his family last night.
Nader Alami's family and relatives also said in a statement that he had been killed and would be buried later in the day.
Dr. Nadir Alemi was one of the country's leading specialists who also spent a long time as the head of the department at the Balkh Regional Hospital.
He also had a private psychiatric clinic in Mazar-e-Sharif.
Local security officials in Balkh have not yet commented on Nadir Alami's death.
