GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The governor of southern Ghazni province says no soldier has the right to wilfully search people’s homes or harass civilians.
Maulvi Mohammad Ishaq Akhundzada, addressing a meeting of the Taliban’s clearance commission, said only intelligence personnel could search homes based on actionable tip-offs.
“The Taliban soldiers do not reserve the right to harass, beat and threaten anyone,” the governor added.
Hamdullah Mansouri, a member of the commission, said violence, harassment, corruption, bribery and arbitrary house searches were not allowed.
“We will take legal action against anyone who does this and everyone should cooperate with us in this regard,” he said.
Maulvi Abdullah Ghaznavi, head of the clearance commission, alleged some people were using Taliban’s name to conduct illegal activities.
