PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A Pakistani welfare organisation has sent seven truckloads of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

The aid would be distributed to the needy people in different parts of the war-ravaged country, Bismillah Welfare Trust (BWT) announced on Wednesday.

BWT Chairman Zarbullah Shinwari said they had donated seven truckloads of food items, blankets and winter supplies to Afghanistan as a goodwill gesture.

He told The News that at the beginning of winter, thousands of Afghans including women, children and the elderly were in dire need of food, blankets and warm jackets.

Shinwari said they handed over the loaded trucks to the Pak-Afghan Cooperation Forum in Torkham for transportation to different parts of Afghanistan.

The BMT chairman promised dispatching more humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in coming days.
