PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan army chief has reiterated the need for global convergence on Afghanistan to avert a humanitarian crisis there.
Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, at a meeting with the UK’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP), called for the economic uplift of the Afghan people.
“Peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan,” the chief of the army staff told the visiting dignitary, who appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan.
The envoy also commended Pakistan’s role in regional stability and pledged to play his part for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation including recent developments in Afghanistan were discussed.
Separately, Commander of Qatar Naval Force Maj. Gen. Abdullah Bin Hassan Al Sulaiti also met Gen Bajwa. The regional security situation was discussed.
