KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has rejected a report that says new passports would be issued with the logo of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan instead of the Republic’s from tomorrow onward.
The Passport Department had said on November 16 that the distribution of passports in Kabul had been delayed for several days due to a technical problem in the biometric machines.
Passport distribution has not yet resumed in Kabul, but the process has started in a number of provinces since the last few days after a three-month suspension.
Shamshad television channel in a tweet today said, "Today is the last day for the distribution of passports with Republic’s logo."
The source said deputy head of Afghanistan's Passport Department told the media outlet that the distribution of passports with the logo of the "Islamic Emirate" would start from Kabul tomorrow, Tuesday.
However, deputy government spokesman InamullahSamangani told Pajhwok Afghan News that he talked with the Passport Department officials and the report was baseless.
