GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a man who served in the police force during the previous government, the victim’s family said on Wednesday.
“Mesri Khan served in police force during the Ashraf Ghani administration and had no enmity with anyone,” Wakeel Khan, the victim’s family member, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He asked the authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Information Department Director Khaliq Yar Ahmadzai confirmed the incident and said security personnel had launched an investigation into the murder.
According to Ahmadzai, after a general amnesty announcement by the Taliban, no one is allowed to harm people who served in the previous regime.
