Fuel prices down by 4.7pc in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of vehicle fuel has dipped by 4.7 percent while that of sugar, ghee and flour has increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

A worker of Ahmad Yar Group Fuel Station told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one liter of petrol dipped from 76 afghanis to 72 afghanis and the same quantity of diesel from 71 afghanis to 68 afghanis.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kulula Pushta area of Kabul, said that the a kilogram of the commodity stood at 85afs, the same rate of last week.

In food items, the prices of flour, sugar and ghee have increased.

Zamari Safi, head of the Food Traders Union, said today the price of 49-kilogram of Indian sugar surged from 2,950 to 3,000afs, 49kg of Kazakhstani flour from 2,200afs to 2,250afs and a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee from 2,600afs to 2,650afs.

He linked this surge with the depreciation of afghani against dollar.

Other essential items’ rates remain steady.

He said that 24kg of Pakistani cost 2,400afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 350afs and the same quantity of African black tea 380afs, the same prices of last week.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in Dahni Bagh Market, said the retail price of 49kg of Kazakh flour was 2,300afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,450 afs, 49 kilograms of Indian sugar accounted for 3,100afs, 16 litres of Malysian cooking oil for 2,700afs, a kilogram of Indonesian tea at 360 afs and one kilogram of black African team accounted for 390 afs.

Gold prices also remain steady.

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lyci Maryam Market, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 4,300afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 3,400afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shazada Market in Kabul said that one dollar account for 95afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 520afs, no changes recorded in the currency exchange rates since last week.
