KABUL (Pajhwok): Qatari foreign minister has said that Afghanistan's stability is important for the whole region, but the international community and the United Nations have no specific strategy for the country's development and stability.
Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and the country’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said in a statement on Friday that security, political and economic issues were the main challenges Afghans faced after the collapse of the previous government.
He said Qatar was still in discussion with regional political leaders for stability in Afghanistan and to reduce their concerns.
Thani acknowledged that Russia, China and some other countries were concerned about the situation in Afghanistan, but added that the country would not pose any threat to others if regional countries cooperated with it.
He did not provide further details about the concerns of these countries.
Thani said that talks were underway with Turkey on the activation and security of Kabul Airport and an agreement will be reached in the near future.
