Passport distribution begins in Baghlan as well

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The distribution of passports has begun northern Baghlan province as well, local officials said on Monday.

Maulvi Abdul Halim, head of the Baghlan Passport Office, told reporters at the start of the passport distribution process today that they would issue passports to about 120 people a day and that the distribution process would be speeded up if people observed discipline.

Passport applicants are divided into three categories ---patients, students going abroad for education and the third being ordinary clients.

Ali Mohammad, who had come to Pul-e-Khumri to collect his passport, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he was happy that the passport department was providing services in spite of the difficult situation in the country

The passport process has been suspended since several days in the capital Kabul, but officials said yesterday that the distribution of passports would begin in 14 provinces, including Baghlan.
