KABUL (Pajhwok): The value of US dollar has surged to an all-time high against the afghani and currently one dollar is exchanged for more than 100 afghanis at Kabul Sara-i-Shahzad money exchange market.
Haji Dadgul, deputy director of the largest currency exchange center in Kabul (Sara-i-Shahzada) told Pajhwok in the afternoon that one US dollar was exchanged for 101.70 afghanis.
He attributed the increase in the value of dollar against the afghanis to the lack of dollar in the market.
Meanwhile, Da Afghanistan Bank said it followed a managed exchange rate, and in such a regime, exchange rate fluctuations were a must.
The bank added that lately the US dollar had risen not only against the afghani but also against other currencies.
“Another factor for the increase in dollar value is the withdrawal of dollar by our compatriots from the market,” DAB said.
The bank urged the people not to worry and to use their national currency to support the greater stability of the Afghan currency in their transactions.
