SHARAN (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has discovered a marble mine during a survey in the capital of southeastern Paktika province.
The survey was conducted by a technical team from the relevant ministry in the Spin Chak area of Shahran.
Provincial Director of Mines and Petroleum Maulvi Nazar Gul Sayad told Pajhwok Afghan News that a technical and professional team conducted the survey in the Spin Chak area to look for the presence of minerals.
He added that as a result of the survey, samples of some minerals, especially marble, were found in the area.
He said further surveys would be carried out in the area to determine the size of the mine and to find out if there were any other minerals in the area.
Sayad also mentioned that in addition to finding the mine, the team also visited the coal mining area.
He said surveys would be conducted in other parts of Paktika to identify and secure the mining areas.
Daulat Khan and Wali Akbar, two residents of Spin Chak area, told Pajhwok that people were aware of the discovery of a marble mine in the area and were happy with the news.
