KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan has received a new batch of Chinese-donated COVID-19 vaccine.
The donation was handed over to Afghan authorities after its arrival at the Kabul International Airport on Wednesday.
The handover ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu and Deputy Minister of Public Health Abdul Bari Omar.
China has announced donating 3 million doses of vaccines and other medical supplies to Afghanistan since mid-August, Wang said.
Xinhua quoted him as saying that China was accelerating delivery of the $31 million emergency assistance to Afghanistan.
The aid package included food, winter supplies, vaccines and medicines, the ambassador added.
China would assist Afghanistan in further boosting its exports and in executing projects that could help improve people's living standards, he promised.
Meanwhile, Omar welcomed the donation and support provided to Afghanistan by the Chinese government. In June this year, China delivered the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine to Afghanistan.
