LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Omeed Organisation has thwarted corrupt practices in many areas and resolved public issues, the organization provincial chief has said.
Shamim Ahmad Nasrat, head of the Omeed Organisation in southern Helmand province, said they organized several public awareness programmes on corruption during previous government and resolved public problems through this way.
He said Civil Society Activists and people from other walks of life provided training on anti-corruption which benefited society and people.
The purpose of the workshops were to help resolve public issues for which people referred to them and explore solution to prevent corruption government offices
Shamim said 60 cases of public complaints regarding corruption had been registered with them during the previous government with most of them related to the unfair distribution of aid.
He said they reached to concerned authorities and conveyed public complaints regarding unfair distribution of aid and helped resolve the problem.
Sana, the resident of Lashkargah City is satisfied with the anti-corruption activities ofOmeed Organisation, said: “I wanted to get National Identity Card (NIC) but when I reached to NIC Office I noticed that they were not hearing my request and made irrelevant excuses paving way for bribe. Then I shared my problem with Omeed Organisation and they shared the issue with the NIC Office head.”
Abdullah, the resident of Marja district who migrated to Lashkargah due to conflict in the previous government, applied for help to the Refugee Department but he received no help.
He said he referred his problem to Omeed Organisation Personnel who conveyed his problem to the Refugees Department and the problem got resolved.
Mohammad Anwar, the resident of Marja district currently live in Lashkargah, is happy about the activities of Omeed Organisation.
He said displaced families were distributed special cards for assistance in Lashkargah but they were unable to receive them due to corruption.
He said he referred his problem to Omeed Organisation which was operating on the support of UNDP. They referred my problem to concerned authorities and finally my problem was resolved.
