PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A lady doctor has been killed at her home in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Abdullah Malang, spokesman for Public Health Department, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Malang said Marzia – the victim – worked in the ultrasound department of Baghlan Civil Hospital. She was killed inside her home, he added.
“Marzia’s body was not evacuated to hospital, so it is difficult to say how she was killed,” the spokesman said.
But Maulvi Mustafa Hashimi, director of information and culture, alleged the doctor had been killed by her spouse.
He said that a man killed his wife, a nurse at civil hospital, in the Chap Darya area of Pul-i-Khumri on Monday night.
Domestic violence was behind the incident, according to Hashimi, who said the suspected killer had fled and police had launched a manhunt for him.
